About Our Us & Our Wedding Taxis

Even in the heavy snow, we are to date yet to fail to deliver a bride to her wedding.
Hired Our Wedding Taxi, Not Even Snow Has Defeated Us:-)

How Our White Wedding Taxis Started

Like many, I grew up with taxis that looked like the one pictured, basically looked like a taxi should do. The Black Cab, with its classic shape evokes a lot of positive memories.

So like pretty much every other wedding car business, ours also started as a person with a desire to have a new toy. True, we all kid ourselves that our classic wedding cars are all about the business, but deep down know it's not.

Why We Do What We Do

Firstly, driving brides to their wedding is pure and simply a great job to have. It is something we take great pride in having the honour to do each time.

On the more practical side, looking around for the right project vehicle, I ended up looking at a lot of the taxis that had been offered as wedding cars. Now what makes a taxi iconic, other than its shape, is its long history as a public service vehicle. A history as a mass transportation device. As a result, a standard one will carry hundreds of thousands of people and clock up an easy 500,000 miles.

What became apparent was, the taxis being offered as "wedding cars" were basically the same taxis you get in after a night out on the town. Now some had been given a coat of white paint (often just on the outside), but inside they were tired, grubby and a bit depressing. Which explained why you very rarely see interior shots of a lot wedding cars and wedding taxis.

What also came to light was, they were also trying to fit either several weddings in to a day or a wedding in between working as a normal taxi - not very special at all!

The First Wedding Taxi

It was here the business part took over from the toy. I did some market research, basically I asked some people, ignored those who said I was crazy and paid close attention to those who smiled and asked for more information.

I had also foolishly explained my idea of restoring old London Taxis to my partner in the following way:

"I have a great idea for a business venture, you will love this - White Wedding Taxis"

In fairness this seemed somewhat easier than:

"Can I spend loads of our cash and have a really expensive new toy, then lock myself in the garage for months assembling it"!

Quickly it became clear brides liked the iconic taxi shape, they liked its funky nature, retro looks and oodles space for their wedding dress. What they did not want was to have arrive and then have to travel in, a tired old London taxi. They also expected a chauffer service and not just a basic taxi service.

So during the restoration we threw away the dark velour interior, the dark headlining the utilitarian rubber matt. In went a bright ivory headlining, light dove grey leather, new lighter carpets. Paint was also a tough choice. Paint it too white and it dazzles the camera and the wedding dress does not stand out. The inspiration came from an E-Type Jaguar, a vehicle often finished in Jaguars gorgeous Old English White.

Finally out went the taxi driver casual attire and in came the chauffeurs suits.

The Rest Is History

It was really never meant to get this big. We have now broadened our service out to modern TX style London Taxis and even photo booths in London taxis. Since our start, we have provided wedding cars for 100's of weddings across, London, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and Kent.
